DROPPED OUT: New Wave singer Adam Ant, 47, has withdrawn from the "Here and Now" tour, a show featuring many of the top pop acts of the 1980s, reports Reuters. Ant, whose real name is Stuart Leslie Goddard, was arrested in a London suburb in January for assault when he pulled out a gun. He has been out on bail. Tour producers blamed unspecified medical problems for his departure. The tour will kick off April 18 with acts including ABC, members of Spandau Ballet, Belinda Carlisle of the Go-Gos and Howard Jones . . . DIED: Opera soprano and pop singer Eileen Farrell, 82, passed away on Saturday, reports the Associated Press. Farrell managed a successful opera career, appearing at the New York Metropolitan Opera for five seasons and as a soloist for the New York Philharmonic, while also being acclaimed as a jazz singer (she filled in for Louis Armstrong at the 1959 Spoleto Festival) and pop artist with albums including "I've Got a Right To Sing the Blues" and "Here I Go Again." She also taught at Indiana University and had two children . . . ENSHRINED: The ashes of groundbreaking rock and roll deejay Alan Freed have been moved from a mausoleum in New York State and sealed in a wall at Cleveland's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, reports the AP. The legendary record-spinner, who died in 1965 at age 43, was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1986, and his family and executives at the hall felt that he would have wanted his final resting place to be in Cleveland, where, legend has it, he coined the term "rock and roll" . . . MULTI-TASKING: Madonna fans hoping to snag tickets for her London stage debut in "Up for Grabs" this May will have fewer performances to choose from as the singer's recording schedule has forced her to cancel all matinees, reports Reuters. The star, 43, who plays an ambitious art dealer in the comedy, is expect to begin a 10-week run at the Wyndham's Theater in the West End on May 23.
