Bill Berle, 40, the estranged son of legendary comic Milton Berle, who died Wednesday at the age of 93, is contesting the proposed burial site of his father, reports The New York Times. According to the younger Berle, who reportedly never spoke to his father after the old man cut Bill off for having written the 1999 tell-all book, "My Father, Uncle Miltie," Milton would not want to be buried at L.A.'s Hillside Cemetery. Milton's widow, Lorna, said Hillside would serve as her husband's final resting place, and the funeral is set to be held Monday. But Bill says that in 1989 Milton arranged for Ruth Berle, Bill's mother and Milton's second wife, to be laid to rest in a double crypt at L.A.'s Mount Sinai Memorial Park. At the time, says Bill, Milton told his son "he wanted to be buried with my mom." As for Hillside, which is located near the L.A. airport, "It happens to be where Al Jolson was buried," Bill told The Times, "and my father and Mr. Jolson were not exactly friends." (Jolson was known to have a towering ego. Milton Berle's wasn't particularly lacking, either.) "His memory's being disrespected." Publicist Warren Cowan, who represented Milton Berle, told The Times, "I only know (Milton) told me he bought plots at Hillside, and it was his idea."
