PASSAGES: Korbut Theft Case Closed
RELIEVED: Four-time Olympic gymnast Olga Korbut, 46, will not face trial on charges of shoplifting $19 worth of groceries from an Atlanta-area store in January, a Georgia county prosecutor said on Wednesday, reports Reuters. According to legal papers, Korbut attended a values class and paid $333 in fees under a pretrial program to avoid prosecution . . . ANNOUNCED: This year's "Divas in Concert" lineup -- set for the Las Vegas Grand on May 23 -- will be returnees to the show: Mary J. Blige, Celine Dion and Cher, reports the Associated Press. Additional performers to be announced. The show benefits VH1's Save the Music Foundation . . . PLANNED: Country darling Dolly Parton, 55, is returning to the concert circuit for the first time in 10 years, she told reporters at the opening of her Dollywood theme park in Tennessee (the park is marking its 17th season). Tour dates to be announced, though she says she'll begin rehearsing in May . . . FILED: Former "Tonight" show sidekick Ed McMahon, 79, is suing his home insurance company for $20 million, claiming it botched a simple repair on a broken pipe and, as a result, allowed the toxic mold stachybotrus chartarum to spread throughout his now-abandoned Beverly Hills house, leaving him and his wife, Mary, sick and killing their dog, Muffin. Their attorney, Allan Browne, appearing on Thursday's "Today" show, said the insurance company has to be made accountable for abandoning the McMahons's claim. There was no comment from the insurance company . . . BORN: Actress Geena Davis, 45, and her (fourth) husband, physician Reza Jarrahy, 30, welcomed their first child, a daughter, Wednesday at a Los Angeles area hospital, her publicist told the Associated Press. The baby's name and weight have yet to be disclosed, but, said the rep, "I hear the little girl is as beautiful-looking as her mom."
