Singer, actor, model and one of PEOPLE's Sexiest Men Alive 2000, who simply goes by the name Tyrese, has checked himself into Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles as the result of a motorcycle accident last Friday, reports the Associated Press. A spokesman for Tyrese (last name Gibson) said that he took a spill while riding his cycle off-road in a desert area to the east of Los Angeles, totaling the bike and hurting his back. He also suffered cuts to his body. Initially, Tyrese was treated at a hospital and released. But on Monday, after experiencing continued back pains through the weekend, he entered Cedars, where he remains in stable condition. A hospital spokeswoman told the AP that he is expected to stay until the weekend, at least. Getting his start as a model (for such products as Coca-Cola, Tommy Hilfiger and Guess), Tyrese has also cut CDs, including last year's "2000 Watts," about which the PEOPLE reviewer remarked: "The sometime model (and actor) proves to be a dim bulb on disc." But when he was written up in the magazine last fall as the Sexiest R&B Star, the correspondent had these nice things to say: "When I interviewed Tyrese . . . he had a bad cold -- he kept slurping chicken soup and snorting into a tissue. Not the sexiest day for him. But he was relaxed, even doffing his shirt to show me his nine tattoos, including one on his left shoulder he calls 'an evil skull.' He showed off his soft side too, telling me about his former girlfriend and a song he had written about her. And instead of just telling me the lyrics, he sang them."
