Now that the Oscars are over, the real fun can begin. The list of the 2002 MTV Movie Award nominees is out, with the usually irreverent show to be taped at L.A.'s Shrine Auditorium on June 1 and aired on the music network June 6. And the flicks up for best picture are "Black Hawk Down," "The Fast and the Furious," "Legally Blonde," "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring" and "Shrek." As for the special MTV categories of "best kiss" and "best fight," those duking it out in the puckering category are Heath Ledger and Shannyn Sossamon ("A Knight's Tale"); Jason Biggs and Seann William Scott ("American Pie 2"); Renee Zellweger and Colin Firth ("Bridget Jones's Diary"); Mia Kirshner and Beverly Polcyn ("Not Another Teen Movie"); and Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor ("Moulin Rouge"). As for the pugilistics: Angelina Jolie vs. a robot ("Lara Croft: Tomb Raider"), Christopher Lee vs. Ian McKellen ("Lord of the Rings"), Jet Li vs. himself ("The One"); and Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan vs. the Hong Kong Gang ("Rush Hour 2"). All told, "The Fast and the Furious" and "Rush Hour 2" received five nominations each, while "Moulin Rouge" and "Shrek" got four apiece. The big nominee (as was the case with the Oscars, though it didn't come out a big winner) proved to be "Lord of the Rings," with six MTV nods. Among them: Elijah Wood for best male performance (Frodo Baggins); Orlando Bloom (Legolas) for male breakthrough performance; and Christopher Lee (Saruman the White) as best villain.
