Yun Kyeong Sung Kwon, a Los Angeles woman who last month accused Celine Dion's husband, Rene Angelil, of sexual assault, has been arrested on suspicion of writing $500,000 in bad checks to Las Vegas casinos, PEOPLE reports in its latest issue. Kwon was taken into custody a week ago in Pasadena, Calif., by authorities acting on information supplied by the Clark County district attorney's office, Dan Ahlstrom, head of the office's bad check unit, told Reuters. Kwon stands accused of writing nine bad checks to Harrah's casino and the Flamingo casino in 1999 and 2001, according to Ahlstrom. The largest single check was for $200,000. She has been charged with nine counts of writing a check with insufficient funds, said Ahlstrom. An attorney for Kwon declined comment. Kwon, an ordained minister of the Full Gospel World Church, made news when she and her husband, Ae Kwon, filed a complaint on March 15 claiming that Angelil, 60, had fondled her in an elevator and then sexually assaulted her at Caesar's Palace in March 2000. When the story surfaced last month, Angelil's lawyer Martin Singer called the charges "a complete fabrication." Another attorney for Angelil, David Chesnoff, said he hopes authorities will consider Kwon's "credibility and motivation."
