And they all laughed when Tobey Maguire was cast to play "Spider-Man." The first movie adventure featuring the web-slinging Marvel Comics hero has entered the record books, shattering the previous opening-weekend high-water mark established last fall by "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone." "Harry" earned $90.3 million in its first three days; "Spidy" made $114 million, according to studio estimates. "This is an unqualified box-office record," Paul Dergarabedian, chairman of the box-office tracking company Exhibitor Relations, told The New York Times. "Nothing has ever come close. The enormity of this cannot be overstated." The achievement is being viewed as a signal that this will be a blockbuster summer for Hollywood. On May 16, "Star Wars: Episode II -- Attack of the Clones" opens. The lines for it have been forming at the box office since last month. The weekend Top 10, according to studio estimates, are as follows:
1. "Spider-Man," $114 million
2. "The Scorpion King," $9.6 million
3. "Changing Lanes," $5.6 million
4. "Murder by Numbers," $3.8 million
5. "The Rookie," $3.3 million
