Cops Says Actor Iler Had Hot Pot Pipe
The hearing of Robert Iler, who plays Tony Jr. on "The Sopranos," continues in New York, where an officer says Iler was carrying pot.

The hearing of "Sopranos" actor Robert Iler, 17, continues in New York, where, on Monday, a police officer testified that the youth had a hot marijuana pipe and a bag of weed in his pocket the night he and his pals were arrested for robbery, reports New York's Daily News. But a lawyer for Iler, who plays Tony Jr. on the Mob series, said the only way police found the evidence was by illegally searching his client. Attorneys for Iler and his two co-defendants -- Alban Selimaj, 17, and Michael Cournede, 20 -- are requesting that Manhattan Supreme Court justice Daniel FitzGerald bar prosecutors from using evidence cops seized from the youths, as well any statements they made at the time of their arrest. The lawyers also are asking that the jurist toss out statements made by the two robbery victims identifying Iler and his pals as the muggers, says the News. The trio is accused of robbing two young men of $40 the night of July 3 outside a closed deli on Manhattan's Upper East Side. Testifying Monday, NYPD officer Brian O'Donnell said that shortly after the robbery, he encountered Iler and his pals, who, he said, matched the description of the perpetrators. The officer said he frisked Iler because he noticed what "could be the barrel of a gun" bulging in the actor's pocket. Instead, he said, he discovered a pipe and a bag of marijuana. "The pipe was hot, and there was marijuana inside," said O'Donnell.
