Dixie Chicks, Vince Gill Back to Work

As Courtney Love and Universal Music's Geffen Records attempt to settle their differences with a court-appointed mediator, country's Dixie Chicks and their label, Sony, have ironed-out their nearly year-old legal squabble, reports Reuters. Details of their settlement are not being disclosed (the Chicks claimed they were owed $4 million in royalties and Sony said the band owed it five albums). Chicks lead vocalist Natalie Maines, fiddler Martie Seidel and her banjo-playing sister Emily Robison issued a statement announcing an Aug. 27 release of their new CD, "Home": "We recorded it as a labor of love during our time off, and are thrilled it has come together as an album. . . . Our reconciliation with Sony Music couldn't have come at a better time." In other news from Nashville, the Associated Press reports that 15-time Grammy winner Vince Gill, 45, plans to release a new album later this year, ending a nearly two-year break from the studio. "I'm finishing up a record now, and we're still trying to figure out a good time to get it out there, promote it and get it released and all that," he told the AP. "It's done for the most part. I'm just anxious to hear people respond to some new songs." No title or specific date of release was reported.
