PASSAGES: Britney Suffers Power Loss
BLOWN: A power failure forced the cancellation of a Britney Spears concert in Lubbock, Texas, after two songs Friday night, reports the Associated Press. "I'm just so sorry," Spears, 20, told the crowd at a Texas Tech arena as she was met with jeers. "Please don't boo," she said before walking off the stage. . . . WED: Taylor Hanson, 19, lead singer and keyboard player of the pop trio Hanson, and his girlfriend of two years, Natalie Anne Bryant, 18, married before friends and family members in a small, private ceremony in Pine Mountain, Ga., on Saturday, the Tulsa (Okla.) World reported. "Our wedding was exactly how we envisioned it -- romantic and intimate," Hanson said in a statement released to the paper. "Natalie and I are looking forward to our life together." . . . LAUNCHED: The San Francisco-based Signatures Network has signed an exclusive merchandising and licensing deal with Jennifer Lopez, 31, to develop J.Lo T-shirts, posters, calendars, greeting cards, back-to-school items and other "fan appreciation" merchandise for sale in record stores and other retail outlets as well as in cyberspace, reports Variety. Signature also handles the Ozzy Osbourne line of products. . . . WON: The unstoppable Tiger Woods, 26, on Sunday won golf's U.S. Open, the first since Jack Nicklaus in 1972 to claim the year's first two majors. . . . SHORN: Matt Lauer, 44, displayed his new look on Monday's "Today" show, a closely cropped crown. Cohost host Katie Couric choked back giggles as Lauer went on to explain (half-kiddingly): "Today is the 30th anniversary of the Watergate break-in, so I'm sporting the (Nixon chief of staff) H.R. Haldemann look." Hey, Matt: It'll grow back.
