Billy Joel recently checked himself into Silver Hill Hospital, a substance-abuse and psychiatric center in Connecticut, said his spokeswoman on Wednesday and reported by the Associated Press. She said in her statement that the treatment of the "Piano Man" musician, 52, was "for a planned 10-day stay to deal with a specific and personal problem that had recently developed." The announcement went on to state Joel has been there several weeks and is only expected to remain a few more days. Silver Hill is where Mariah Carey also sought treatment after an emotional and physical breakdown last summer and where, notes the AP, Michael Jackson, Liza Minnelli, Gregg Allman and Joan Kennedy have also paid visits. A spokesperson for the clinic declined comment. Meanwhile, reported The Washington Post's "Reliable Source" column on Wednesday, Bobby Brown, 34, the husband of Whitney Houston, was taken to a Washington, D.C., area hospital in a luxury bus accompanied by his wife and other family members and friends Tuesday afternoon. "Looking worse for wear," said the paper, Brown was seen being taken in on a stretcher and carried inside Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg. A rep for Houston told The Post that Brown was suffering from a persistent infection and high fever and would require an overnight visit, at least. He reportedly was administered an antibiotic IV drip.
