MARKED: Tom Cruise was slated to celebrate his 40th birthday on Wednesday in Florida with his parents and children, Isabella and Conner, reports Variety columnist Army Archerd. Penelope Cruz isn't expected to join in until this weekend, as she's filming "Masked & Anonymous" with Bob Dylan and Jessica Lange. . . . SURVIVED: Remaining members of the group TLC, Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins, 32, and Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas, 31, are working on the their fourth album, the first since the fatal April car crash of Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes, 30, reports the Associated Press. Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, 43, who is collaborating with the pair on the new disc, told the news service that the women have "held up pretty well" in light of the loss. . . . DIAGNOSED: "The Price Is Right" host Bob Barker, 78, will be hospitalized in Washington, D.C., next week to undergo prostate surgery, reports the AP. His publicist says he will recuperate during the summer hiatus from taping the CBS game show. . . . WED: Tom Arnold, 43, former husband to Roseanne, took his third bride last weekend, girlfriend Shelby Roos, 30, at a ceremony at the Beverly Hills Four Seasons Hotel, his publicist told the AP. He stars on Fox Sports Network's "Best Damn Sports Show Period," and she works for a political consultant. . . . DIED: Legendary jazz bassist Ray Brown, 75, who played with such greats as Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker -- and who was once married to legendary singer Ella Fitzgerald (who died in 1996) -- died in his sleep Tuesday in Indianapolis, where he was finishing a gig as part of a national concert tour, reports the AP. A friend told the news service that Brown took a nap and just never woke up. . . . AGREED: Christopher Reeve, 49, whose 1995 fall from a horse rendered him a quadriplegic, will appear in three ABC specials that will document his efforts to walk again, reports the Los Angeles Times. The first show will air this fall, with the remaining due to show his progress throughout the next two years. Reeve's son, Matthew, will direct the series, says the paper. . . . RESTORED: The original Stars and Stripes, 189 years old, which flew over Baltimore's Fort McHenry and served as the inspiration for Francis Scott Keys's "The Star-Spangled Banner," is being cleaned and fully restored by the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of American History, reports the Wall Street Journal.
