No pay, no play. Alicia Keys, 21, passed on performing on the Caribbean island of Antigua this past weekend because the concert's promoters failed to ante up the money for her appearance, her agent told the Associated Press. The Friday night gig, to have been held in St. John's, was going to mark the start of the R&B singer's tour, said the news service, which quoted a reputed fee of $60,000 for the one-night stand. "The promoters . . . did not live up to their contractual obligations," Keys's agent, Rob Light of the Beverly Hills-based Creative Artists Agency, stated in a letter sent to Antigua Junior Finance Minister Asot Michael (and obtained by the AP). "Their total disregard for the agreement left us great concern as to the viability of the production, ticketing and security," he said. Tower Promotions, an Antigua-based group, pointed the finger of blame at co-promoters Itchi Baba of Trinidad and Baby Brother of Miami -- neither of which explained to the AP why they failed to pay this year's big Grammy winner ("Songs in A Minor"). Light did go on to tell the news service that a contrite Antiguan government "has been incredible in trying to resolve this unfortunate situation" and would like "to try and reschedule (the) show for September." There's been no comment from the government, however, according to the AP.
