With nods in six major categories, Colombian folk singer Carlos Vives and his album "Dejame Entrar" lead the list of nominees for the third annual Latin Grammy Awards, reports the Associated Press. The singer is up for best album, record and song of the year. "Me and my people are very happy," Vives, 41, said through a translator. "This shows that tradition music and rhythms that come from the heart can have appeal no matter the language." Previous double Latin Grammy winner Celia Cruz is in the running in four categories: album and record of the year, best salsa album and best music video for her album and song "La Negra Tiene Tumbao." Other top album contenders are "Sereno" by Miguel Bose, "Jobiniando" by Ivan Lins and "MTV Unplugged" by Alejandro Sanz. Record of the year nominees included Sanz's "Y Solo Se Me Ocurre Amarte," La Ley's "Mentira" and "Se Me Olvido" by Gian Marco. The Latin Grammys, whose ceremony had been scheduled for Sept. 11 last year (instead, the winners were announced later at a small news conference), are due to be held Sept. 18 at Hollywood's Kodak Theatre. CBS will broadcast the show.
