Michael J. Fox and Geena Davis helped build a better mousetrap, with their "Stuart Little 2" proving to be the big cheese in this past weekend's box office race. Fox supplies the voice of the lovable rodent in the film (adapted, as was its 1999 predecessor, from the E.B. White book), while Davis plays Stuart's human mother. Neck in neck with "Stuart" was Tom Hanks and Paul Newman, starring in the No. 2-ranked "Road to Perdition." The rain-soaked homage to '30s gangster movies may actually emerge as the No. 1 movie of the weekend once the official final tally is in. For the time being, these box office reports are based on studio estimates. On other screens, "Men in Black II" continues to haul in the greenbacks, while Harrison Ford's pet submarine project, "K-19: The Widowmaker," costarring Liam Neeson, fell short of expectations on the radar screen, industry observers told the Associated Press. The Top 10 box-office hits of this weekend were as follows:
1. "Stuart Little 2," $15.6 million
2. "Road to Perdition," $15.57 million
3. "Men in Black II," $15 million
4. "K-19: The Widowmaker," $13.1 million
5. "Mr. Deeds," $7.3 million
6. "Reign of Fire," $7.1 million
7. "Eight Legged Freaks," $6.7 million
8. "Halloween: Resurrection," $5.4 million
9. "Lilo & Stitch," $5.1 million
10. "The Crocodile Hunter: Collision Course," $4.8 million
