Keys, Usher Top R&B Awards
The Isley Brothers, hip-hopper Ginuwine, R&B star Usher and 650 other guests walked the red carpet in Miami's South Beach on Saturday night for the second annual Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Awards, reports PEOPLE. With four awards, including album of the year (for her "Songs in A Minor"), Alicia Keys, 21, emerged as the night's big winner, followed closely by Usher, whose three awards were for top artist, top male artist and top singles artist. (Winners are determined by CD sales and radio airplay.) Backstage, Usher, 23, whose single "U Got It Bad" topped Billboard's R&B/Hip-Hop charts this year, told PEOPLE of the awards: "It's another milestone in my career. I'm working hard for my keep. If I am remembered as an artist, I want it to be for all the accolades I have accomplished." Last year, Usher (real name: Usher Raymond) also snagged a Grammy in the Male R&B Vocal category for the single "U Remind Me" from his album "8701," which derives its name from its release date -- Aug. 7, 2001. Meanwhile, he may also be remembered as a fashion plate: Wearing a red polo shirt, baggy jeans, a custom-made diamond watch and a cream-colored leather Jimmy Page-style hat, Usher told PEOPLE, "I'm rocking in this Izod look. This is definitely going on for me."
