PASSAGES: 'Mummy' Star Is a Daddy
WELCOMED: "The Mummy"'s main man Brendan Fraser, 33, and his wife, Afton Smith, 35, are the new parents of a son, Griffin Arthur Fraser, who was born Sept. 17 in Los Angeles, USA Today reports. He is their first child. The Frasers have been married since 1999, and his most recent movie is the soon-to-be-released "The Quiet American," in which he costars with Michael Caine.
SOUGHT: Catherine Boyd Lloyd, ex-wife of "Taxi" and "Back to the Future" actor Christopher Lloyd, 63, is seeking $200,000 in alleged unpaid alimony, according to papers she has filed relating to their 1971 divorce. AP reports that the suit names Lloyd's current wife, Jane Walker Wood, and Lloyd's lawyer, Judith Lazenby of Watsonville, Calif., as defendants, saying they "encouraged, advised, aided and abetted" her former husband in his breach of the agreement to pay her $1,500 a month until she remarries or dies. The defendants had no comment.
FILED: The wife of Stone Temple Pilots singer Scott Weiland is seeking a divorce. Mary Weiland filed the papers in Los Angeles Superior Court on Sept. 23, citing irreconcilable differences, Allstar News reports. The couple, who have two children together (Lucy Olivia, 2 months old, and Noah Mercer, who turns 2 on Nov. 19), officially separated Sept. 19. In December 2001, Scott Weiland pleaded guilty to spousal abuse as the result of an incident at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas. A judge ordered him to get therapy for drug use, says the news service.
CAST: Owen Wilson, 31, will reunite with his "The Royal Tenenbaums," "Zoolander" and "Meet the Parents" costar Ben Stiller, 36, in "Starsky & Hutch," an action comedy based on the '70s TV series due to start shooting next February, Variety reports. Stiller will be Starsky (who was played by Paul Michael Glaser on TV) and Wilson will be Hutch (David Soul).
DENIED: Oxana Fedorova, who was stripped of her Miss Universe title and replaced by Miss Panama on Wednesday, tells the Russian tabloid Komsomolskaya Pravda that she had been astonished at U.S. press reports that she had been unworthy of her crown. "There is not a grain of truth in this ... I gave up the title voluntarily," Fedorova, 24, said. "Before I won, no one told me anything about the conditions of the contract. I never thought there would be so many commitments. And I never had any intention of abandoning my university work. So I told the organizers that I had to go home."
TESTIFIED: Yoko Ono, 69, turned a bitter tongue on her late husband John Lennon's former personal assistant on Tuesday, telling a Manhattan federal courtroom that the aide, Frederic Seaman, 49, had dressed in Lennon's clothes after his murder and "flaunted" them in front of her, according to news reports. Ono is suing Seaman for violating conditions of a confidentiality agreement, and she accuses of him of stealing photos and other personal items from the late Beatle. Seaman denies any wrongdoing.
