Not only is this an election year and an Olympics year, but this also happens to be the year of another James Bond movie, "Die Another Day" -- with a title track being supplied by Madonna.

And not surprisingly, the Material Matron has a few tricks up her sleeve for the video.

VH1.com reports that the video, shot in L.A. earlier this month and set to debut on Oct. 7, features Madonna, 44, in an upbeat dance track "filled with electronic flourishes and the stealthy, suspenseful vibe essential to all Bond themes."

In it, she plays a secret agent caught in a number of classic Bond situations: strapped into an electric chair; head submerged underwater by double agents; and ducking a deadly derby hat reminiscent of the one Sean Connery escaped in in one of the best 007 adventures of all time, 1964's "Goldfinger."

Coincidentally, the actor flinging the deadly chapeau at Madonna is the actual nephew of Harold Sakata, who played Oddjob in "Goldfinger." (Sakata died in 1982 at age 60.)

In one highlight of the video, the pure Madonna -- outfitted in virginal white -- does a dueling battle with her bad, black-clad alter ego. The scene also contains reference to Madonna's cameo role as a fencing instructor in the new James Bond movie.

"Die Another Day," also starring Pierce Brosnan and Halle Berry, opens Nov. 22, in time for Thanksgiving. Hold the turkey jokes, please.
