Though only two months into her self-imposed six-month sabbatical, Britney Spears intends to return to the recording studio after first taking a brief break in Italy with hostess Donatella Versace, the pop princess tells Reuters.

"I think I may just go to Los Angeles and record a little bit. But other than that I just plan to hang out," Spears, 20, revealed to the news service before taking her front-row seat at Versace's spring-summer 2003 fashion show in Milan.

"It's like a dream come true being here right now," said Spears, who actually served as the muse for the designer's new line. "My clothes are very young and rock and roll -- Britney things," said Versace, herself dressed head-to-toe in black.

Speaking of her famous guest, Versace remarked, "She needs a vacation. She's worked so, so hard for so many years. She's a young girl and she's a little tired."

Replied Spears, who was dressed in a spangly, translucent Versace number: "I'm incredibly flattered. You are so sweet! You let me into her home and you're so nice!"

The star announced her sabbatical this summer shortly after wrapping up her tour in Mexico City -- where she had to cut her concert short because of bad weather and endured some bad press for flashing a finger at photographers outside an airport.

At the time of her announcement, she told PEOPLE in a cover story: "I'm taking a break, so people are writing that I'm having a meltdown. I don't get it. I need this break to rejuvenate and to just play."
