CAST: "Scooby-Doo" star Freddie Prinze Jr. will briefly join "Friends" this season to play a male nanny hired by Rachel and Ross (Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer) for their new baby, NBC has announced. Prinze, 26, joins a short list of movie stars who have made guest appearances on the show, including Aniston's husband, a guy also known as Brad Pitt.

MOURNED: Walter Annenberg, the philanthropist, publisher and former U.S. Ambassador to Britain (for President Richard Nixon), died after a brief bout with pneumonia at his home in Pennsylvania, a spokeswoman for the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania said Tuesday. He was 94. At one time, Annenberg's impressive empire included TV Guide, the Philadelphia Inquirer and Seventeen magazine, which he founded.

ARRESTED: Tamera Jeanine Andrade, 35, a fan of the rock band Creed, remained in jail Tuesday after being arrested Saturday night before Creed's concert at Oklahoma City's Ford Center for allegedly violating a restraining order filed by the group's lead singer, Scott Stapp, reports AP. Police say Andrade had a ticket to the show, a copy of the restraining order (which states that she must be at least 500 feet way from Stapp) and a page from an address book with Stapp's home address. Her bond was set at $2,000.

SOLD: Elvis Presley, who died in 1977 at age 42, has a new CD that will debut in the No. 1 spot on Wednesday's sales charts, according to SoundScan. The week-old "Elvis: 30 No. 1 Hits," has sold nearly 500,000 copies in the U.S. alone. The newly minted compilation is also topping the charts in England, Ireland and Canada.

VISITED: Richard Gere, 53, and Goldie Hawn, 56, joined Buddhist philosophers and Nobel laureates in northern India on Monday at the exile headquarters of the Dalai Lama to discuss science and modern ethics, the Associated Press reports. Hawn and Gere, both prominent supporters of the Tibetan spiritual leader, will be observers at the five-day conference.

RECOVERING: "Cool Hand Luke" Oscar-winning actor George Kennedy, 77, was released from Idaho's St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center on Monday after successfully undergoing an emergency heart bypass and treatment for sleep apnea. Kennedy, who also starred in the "Airport" movies, entered the hospital in early September for a hip replacement when tests indicated the need for triple bypass surgery.
