Paul Reiser Mad About New Comedy Pilot
Helen Hunt's former costar is preparing a new gig, to write and co-executive produce a very "Friends"-like new TV comedy series for FX.

Former "Mad About You" star Paul Reiser has assembled a formidable cast for an as-yet-untitled new comedy pilot for FX, Variety reports.
"Kissing Jessica Stein" co-writer and star Jennifer Westfeldt is set to star in the new series, as are Amy Sedaris ("Maid in Manhattan"); Mark McKinney ("Kids in the Hall"); Alec Mapa ("Some of My Best Friends"); Peter Friedman ("Someone Like You"); Ileen Getz ("Changing Lanes"); Tracy Middendorf ("The Division"); Lizette Carrion ("FreakyLinks"); and Max Beesley ("Glitter").
The idea for the show, which will be set -- and shot -- in New York, sounds a bit like "Friends," minus the personal connections between the characters. Instead, these people's lives are due to intersect randomly, says the trade paper.
Although it is not clear whether Reiser, 45, will also appear before the camera, he and playwright Steven Sater are serving as writers and executive producers.
Also, no word on whether Helen Hunt might just happen to drop by.
