The judge in Kobe Bryant's rape case in Colorado has granted a media request on Thursday to open a portion of sealed legal documents, including the Lakers star's original arrest warrant, reports Reuters.

But Judge Fred Gannett also said he would keep under seal affidavits from certain law enforcement officials. Prosecutors have said that these documents contain material that possibly would not be permitted at trial, and therefore it would be unfair to the athlete to make them public.

Bryant, 24, stands accused of raping a 19-year-old woman who worked as a concierge at a plush Colorado resort where he was staying in late June. He says the encounter was consensual and that his only wrongdoing was adultery.

The judge said he will leave the documents sealed for 10 days pending an appeal.

Meanwhile, John William Roche, 22, of Iowa City, Iowa, was arrested for leaving a threatening answering machine message for Bryant's accuser, according to an indictment unsealed on Thursday.

According to Reuters, Roche allegedly said he would kill her. Jeff Dorschner, spokesman for the U.S. attorney's office in Denver, said that death threats are a federal matter, even though the rape case is a state matter.

As Reuters notes, Bryant's accuser has been vilified in some circles, and has been identified on the Internet, though not by mainstream media.
