Stevie's D.C. Gala a Wonder-ful Affair

The night was filled with renditions of Wonder classics, such as Eric Clapton's performance of "Heaven Is 10 Zillion Light Years Away," and surprises including Elton John's taped homage to Wonder.
Justin Timberlake introduced Mariah Carey, who performed, as did India.Arie and Brian McKnight, while Wesley Snipes and Ananda Lewis were among the 850 guests at the black-tie event, which raised $400,000 for the United Negro College Fund.
Emcee Jamie Foxx, who opened the gala dressed as a 12-year-old Little Stevie Wonder, had the real Wonder, now 52, and the audience laughing all night long, as he poked fun at Wonder.
"I don't have a hang-up with the blind thing," Wonder told PEOPLE about Foxx's jibes. "To me, good humor is when you're able to laugh with the comedian."
Foxx, 35, has been a fan of Wonder since childhood. "I was a cat that when I would call a girl on the phone, I didn't really have my rap together," Foxx told PEOPLE. "I'd put the phone up to the eight-track tape and play Stevie songs like 'My Cherie Amore' and 'You are the Sunshine of My Life.' "
Foxx did not comment on the success -- or lack thereof -- of the phone calls.
