In an interview with Diane Sawyer set to air on ABC's "Primetime" Wednesday night -- and expected to keep eyebrows raised well into Thursday morning -- Whitney Houston admits that she's abused drugs but that daily prayer now redeems her from that part of her past.
In excerpts from the face-to-face obtained by the Associated Press, Sawyer presses the pop diva, 39, to discuss the pressures of stardom and her 10-year marriage to bad boy Bobby Brown.
When asked, "Is it alcohol? Is it marijuana? Is it cocaine? Is it pills?" Houston responds, "It has been at times."
"All?" repeated Sawyer.
"At times," Houston confirmed. "Uh-hm."
The star also concedes that she's "addicted to a few things," including "making love."
"I don't like to think of myself addicted," she says. "I like to think ... I had a bad habit ... which can be broken."
Explaining her at-times emaciated frame, Houston insists she's not, contrary to rumor, anorexic or bulimic.
"Let's get that straight. I am not sick. OK?" she says. "I've always been a thin girl. I am not going to be fat, ever. Let's get that straight. Whitney is not going to be fat, ever."
Brown, 33, who was arrested last month in Atlanta on DUI charges, also appears in the interview, and says he's frequently used marijuana because he's been diagnosed as bipolar.
"Me and drugs. We're not friends. We're not friends at all," Brown says. "I'm a very high-strung person. ... (Marijuana) seems to help me ... from going up and down."
