There will be no resting on laurels for Halle Berry or Adam Sandler.

First, the Berry news: The Best Actress Oscar winner for "Monster's Ball," who opens opposite Pierce Brosnan on Nov. 22 in the new James Bond adventure "Die Another Day," has signed on to portray a rape victim in "October Squall," a drama that will begin shooting next year, Variety reports.

Berry, 36, will also serve as the producer of the movie, which is based on a true story of a mother who keeps her child, only to suspect that the little girl is growing up to be like the rapist-father.

The script is by novelist Jason Starr ("Tough Luck"), who wrote it under the supervision of Berry and director Lyndon Chubbuck ("The War Bride").

"She called to say she wanted to do a movie with me, and I pitched this one, which happened in an area I came from, near Baltimore," Chubbuck said of his star and producer. The film's financing is still being arranged, he tells the trade paper.

Meanwhile, "Punch-Drunk Love" star Sandler, 36, is poised to star in and produce "Fifty First Kisses," a romantic comedy that will likely reteam him with his "Wedding Singer" costar Drew Barrymore.

In what sounds a bit like the 1993 Bill Murray-Andie MacDowell comedy "Groundhog Day," the film centers on a man who falls for a woman only to discover that she suffers from short-term memory loss and can't remember who he is. He therefore has to win her love anew every day.

Sounds perfect for Valentine's Day.
