Though her latest cinematic endeavor, "Swept Away," has already been swept out of most movie theaters, the ever-irrepressible Madonna, 44, is back before the public.

The trade publication Ad Age reports that the entertainer is making a rare advertising appearance in a new campaign for the women's TV cable channel Oxygen, to begin airing for a month starting next Monday.

Madonna's last U.S. TV commercial appearance was in her ill-fated 1989 "Like a Prayer" spot for Pepsi, which was pulled after she stirred up controversy with the song's video, which some claimed was sacrilegious. (Britney Spears is now doing Pepsi's ads.)

As for Oxygen, Madonna "appreciates the pro-women philosophy of Oxygen," her publicist, Liz Rosenberg, tells USA Today, adding that Madonna was impressed that the slogan for the ad campaign -- "Oh! Oxygen!" -- was created by Dale Pon, the same New York-based agency that came up with "I want my MTV."

She was reportedly paid scale for the ad.

Other celebrities who will be promoting the network, include stage actor Alan Cumming, "Sopranos" costar Jamie-Lynn Sigler and Oxygen hosts Carrie Fisher, Candice Bergen and Isaac Mizrahi.
