Well, if you're Madonna, you'd be in Los Angeles
Reports on the other side of the Atlantic say she's decamped from London, taken her 6-year-old daughter Lourdes out of school there and has been telling friends she is fed up with "everything that is English."
Her father-in-law, John Ritchie (dad to British director Guy Ritchie), was, according to the Associated Press, even quoted by one magazine as saying, "Madonna is very happy to be out of London because the harsh winter weather was getting her down."
While Madonna's spokeswoman Liz Rosenberg did not return the AP's calls seeking comment, a spokesman for Guy Ritchie refuted the reports.
"They haven't moved back to L.A.," said Kris Thykier. "They spend roughly half their time there and half here."
Even so, the thought of Madonna -- with her "Mockney" British accent -- leaving town gave some British journalists a chance to have some fun at her expense.
"Well, good riddance," wrote David Thomas in Wednesday's Daily Mail, where he accused her of being "a classic case of the rich, crass, clueless American playing at English tradition."
The weather must be getting everybody down.
