Perhaps the spin of a roulette wheel is more alluring to Jermaine Jackson than the spin of a CD, but for whatever reason, the former Jackson 5 member plans to build a $560 million casino resort in this U.S. Virgin Islands, officials tell the Associated Press.
The 400-room resort in Robin Bay, situated on the eastern end of St. Croix, would be done in partnership with Connecticut developer Curtis Robinson, said Lt. Gov. Vargrave Richards.
Funding apparently is not 100 percent complete, according to Richards, who said construction would not commence until all the financing was secured.
U.S. Virgin Islands authorities have already approved a license for the casino, according to the politician, and the resort facilities are also meant to include a golf course, time-share apartments and a conference center.
Jackson, 48, was reportedly in St. Croix last week.
