Bobby Brown, who was jailed in Georgia late last week after pleading guilty to a 1996 drunken driving charge, has been admitted to a hospital in Atlanta, authorities tell Reuters.
The R&B singer, 33, was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital early on Tuesday after complaining of an undisclosed ailment, according to Mikki Jones, public information officer with the DeKalb County Sheriff's Department.
"The hospital reports he is in good condition," said Jones, who declined further comment on what was bothering Brown.
On Friday, Brown, the husband of Whitney Houston, 39, was sentenced to eight days in jail (as well as 240 hours of community service and ordered to pay about $2,600 in fines). But Jones said he was scheduled to be released Wednesday under a policy that reduces sentences for good behavior.
Brown, whose hits include "My Prerogative" and "Every Little Step," ran afoul of the law early last week when DeKalb County State Court Judge Wayne Purdom ordered his arrest. The jurist said that the musician's live performance on ABC's American Music Awards in Los Angeles violated conditions of his bond, which stipulated that he remain in Georgia until his trial.
Brown, who has a history of run-ins with the law going back to his youth in Boston, faces other charges in Georgia. In early November, Brown was arrested in Atlanta and charged with possessing less than an ounce of marijuana, speeding and having no driver's license or proof of insurance.
