"American Beauty" Oscar winner Kevin Spacey will join a British beauty Grammy winner, Sir Elton John, at a Feb. 5 fundraiser for London's historic Old Vic Theater, the event's organizers tell the Associated Press.
The two men are expected to deliver a duet of some of John's hits. The 55-year-old musician's connection to the 185-year-old theater is that he serves as chairman of the Old Vic Theater Trust, which bought the venue in 1998 when it was in danger of closing.
Spacey, 43, is no stranger to the hall, either. In 1998, he starred there in Eugene O'Neill's "The Iceman Cometh," and he is a board member of the trust.
In November 2001, as a tribute to 9/11 victims in the U.S., Spacey performed The Beatles' "Hey Jude" on the stage.
Also due to share the bill on Feb. 5 -- which will be an all-Elton John program -- are Sinead O'Connor, Lulu, Canadian jazz star Diana Krall and her new partner, Elvis Costello, among others.
Built in 1818, the Old Vic is perhaps most familiar to modern theatergoers as having been the former home of Laurence Olivier's National Theater company.
