SET: Grammy nominees Norah Jones, 23, and Bruce Springsteen, 53, will perform during the 45th annual Grammy broadcast Feb. 23 at New York's Madison Square Garden, the ceremony's organizers have announced. Also scheduled to play the Garden that night: Brit rockers Coldplay, Faith Hill and rapper Nelly (featuring Kelly Rowland) -- Grammy nominees one and all.
INHERITED: Athina Roussel, granddaughter of the late Greek shipping tycoon Aristotle Onassis, becomes one of the world's richest people Wednesday simply by turning 18, at which point she comes into her share of the family fortune, estimated to be $2.7 billion in properties, companies, stock, artwork and a private jet. Unlike her grandfather, who basked in the limelight (one mistress was opera star Maria Callas; one wife was Jacqueline Kennedy), Roussel is said to be a very private person.
SELECTED: TV vet John Ritter, 54, now starring on ABC's "8 Simples Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter" (and who cut his teeth in the 1977-84 sitcom "Three's Company"), will host the inaugural "TV Land Awards: A Celebration of Classic TV," reports Variety, which says that the special will recognize shows that have withstood the test of time. Viewers may vote on the TV Land Web site. The show will be taped on March 2 and will air March 9.
SNUBBED: Peter O'Toole, 70, who was to receive an honorary Academy Award at the March 23 Oscarcast, has informed the Academy that he doesn't particularly want it. In a handwritten open letter to the Academy, the seven-time nominee says he was "enchanted" by the group's gesture, but said that since he is "still in the game and might win the lovely bugger outright, would the Academy please defer the honor until I am 80?" On Tuesday, Academy president Frank Pierson, hoping O'Toole might change his mind, told Daily Variety: "We will have the Oscar for him and if he cares to pick it up, that would be great."
