British police arrested Courtney Love as soon as she landed at London's Heathrow Airport on a flight from Los Angeles Tuesday morning for allegedly abusive behavior on board, Reuters reports.
"Essentially she was acting in a disruptive manner. We won't tolerate disruptive behavior and the matter is now in the hands of the police," a spokesperson for Virgin Atlantic Airways tells the news service.
Love, 38, the former frontwoman of the band Hole and widow of Nirvana's late singer Kurt Cobain, was aboard Virgin flight VS8, sitting in the aircraft's Upper Class cabin.
After being notified by the crew about Love's alleged behavior, the plane's captain called Air Traffic Control during the flight to notify them, the spokesman said, explaining to Britain's Sky News that Love had been "disruptive and verbally abusive" to cabin crew during the flight.
"Disruptive passengers are rare but like other British airlines, we take their behavior very seriously."
Police awaited Love when the plane touched down at 11 a.m.
A passenger on the flight tells Reuters that Love "looked out of it as she was led across the tarmac ... She had bright red lipstick on which appeared smudged. But Courtney Love is Courtney Love -- I guess that's rock and roll."
Love's London agent told Sky News of the incident: "I don't know anything about it."
