PASSAGES: Madonna Miffed, Not Pregnant
PLANNED: Madonna, 44, intends to file a complaint with Britain's press watchdog over inaccurate reports in Britain's gossipy Heat magazine that she is pregnant with her third child, as (the mag claims) is evidenced by her dyed hair and baggy clothes, the singer's publicist, Liz Rosenberg, tells Reuters. "It's not true ... it's not accurate. She dyed her hair brown instead of blond, that does not confirm somebody's pregnant. And she's been wearing baggy clothes for 20 years, so what else is new?" Rosenberg says.
EXPECTED: "The West Wing" star Rob Lowe, 38, will not make his exit as Sam Seaborn from the NBC show in March, as was originally announced, but on the Feb. 26 episode, during sweeps, reports TV Guide Online. Lowe is heading to his own series, "Lyon's Den," an NBC legal drama under consideration for next fall. He would star in it -- as an idealistic young attorney -- and produce.
BORN: ABC News anchor Elizabeth Vargas and her husband since July, "Walking in Memphis" songwriter Marc Cohn, welcomed their first child, a boy, on Friday, the New York Daily News reports. Zachary Raphael Cohn weighed 7 lbs. 13 oz.
INSISTED: Despite widespread skepticism over whether that was really Richard Gere in some of those darkly lit and heavily edited musical scenes in "Chicago," the film's director, Rob Marshall, 44, tells Britain's Sky News: "Richard Gere does this big tap dance and he had never tapped before. Those are his feet. The close-ups on his feet are all him." Expect closer inspection of Gere's tippy toes once the DVD comes out.
GIFTED: Bruce Springsteen, Ashanti, Nelly, Faith Hill, Norah Jones and other guests at the Feb. 23 Grammys will receive goody bags containing a $500 Siemens SX56 Pocket PC mobile phone, a $499 Apple 20 GB iPod, a $1,500 stay at a Fairmont Miramar Hotel, $450 worth of Wilson's Leather luggage, a $525 Invicta Lupah chronograph watch and other items, including an $8 Crest Spin Brush, reports USA Today. Presenters and performers will also get their pick of Stetson cowboy hats, Safilo eyewear and Jabra wireless headsets. Total value per bag: $20,000, says the paper.
