Hello! magazine owner Eduardo Sanchez Junco, currently locked in a nasty legal battle with Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas after he published unauthorized photos of their November 2000 wedding, formally apologized to the couple for causing them any distress, reports the BBC.

But he also said, "I think that their attitude was a little bit exaggerated."

Zeta-Jones, 33, and Douglas, 58, had sold exclusive rights to their wedding photos to Hello!'s rival, OK! magazine, for $1.6 million, and are now suing Hello! for more than $800,000.

Among the couple's complaints -- besides the fuzzy quality of the unauthorized pictures -- are the tone and alleged untruths contained in the Hello! text that accompanied the photos. Hello!'s story said Douglas did not dance with his bride and that he gave her a yacht as a present.

"I don't think there is anything particularly unpleasant about them or offensive," Sanchez told London's High Court of the story, adding that he did not pay attention to the words, just to the pictures.

When told by the Douglases' attorney, Michael Tugendhat, that Zeta-Jones was distressed by Hello!'s coverage, Sanchez replied: "I am sorry about that."

"Do you intend to convey an apology?" Tugendhat later asked.

"Obviously any way in which I have offended her, yes," Sanchez said.

The trial resumes Tuesday.
