Saturday marks a big day in Hollywood -- well, in nearby Artesia, actually -- as that is deadline day for final nominations for the 23rd Annual Razzie Awards, presented by the Golden Raspberry Award Foundation for 2002's worst achievements on screen.

In the 10 various categories on the preliminary ballot -- ranging from worst picture to worst supporting actor -- some 10 lousy movies or performances are suggested, with blank spaces allotted for write-ins.

Still, this early ballot -- -which also includes the new category of Most Flatulent Teen-Targeted Movie -- does offer some insight into how the final votes will probably go.

It looks like Madonna (for "Swept Away"), Eddie Murphy (for his turkey trio "I Spy," "The Adventures of Pluto Nash" and "Showtime") and George Lucas (for what the Razzie folk call "Star Wars/Episode II: Yada-Yada-Yoda") are going be hearing their names among the final nominees when they are announced Feb. 10.

The Razzies themselves will be handed out to the "winners" on Saturday, March 22, the day before the Oscars. Last year, a tux-wearing Tom Green good-naturedly accepted all his Razzies for the truly awful "Freddie Got Fingered."

Besides Madonna, Murphy and Lucas, Roberto Benigni is likely due for a Razzie roasting for his "Pinocchio," as are the roundly reviled "Jackass: The Movie," "Stealing Harvard" and "Crossroads," starring Britney Spears.
