Keith Leads Country Music Nominations
On Tuesday, he led the list of Academy of Country Music award nominees, landing eight nods, including those for song and single of the year for his 9/11-inspired "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue (The Angry American)."
Keith's other nominations included entertainer of the year, top male vocalist, video of the year and album of the year for "Unleashed."
Winners will be announced during the 38th annual Academy of Country Music Awards, airing May 21 on CBS from Las Vegas, reports the Associated Press.
"Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue" is the same song which promised to put "a boot in the a--" of terrorists and generated headlines last year when Keith, 41, claimed it cost him a spot on an ABC Fourth of July special. The network insisted his exclusion was caused by a scheduling conflict.
Alan Jackson received six nominations, including entertainer of the year and top male vocalist, album of the year for "Drive" and song and video of the year for the title track. His competition for entertainer of the year, besides Keith, will be the Dixie Chicks (who won three Grammys this year), Brooks & Dunn and Kenny Chesney.
Among other multiple nominees: Chesney and Trick Pony, each with five; and the Dixie Chicks and Willie Nelson, with three apiece.
