Tom Green Plans Second Assault on MTV

MTV's original jackass is coming back.

The network has ordered a new talk show from comedian Tom Green, the Canadian gross-out specialist who had his own show on the cable network from 1997-99.

The new Tom Green talk show will be called, interestingly enough, "The New Tom Green Talk Show," MTV said in a statement. It's set to debut June 16 at midnight.

The new show is "sure to redefine the genre" and feature much of the "insanity of Tom's world," says MTV, although its description does not exactly sound trailblazing. Green, 31, will reportedly open every show talking about himself, there will be celebrity guests and there will be comedy sketches.

MTV also has picked up a reality series featuring married pop stars Jessica Simpson, 22, and Nick Lachey, 29, who this month will permit cameras to invade their space. They're building a new house, says MTV.

The network goes on to describe the show, which has yet to be titled, as a "reality trip reminiscent of 'I Love Lucy' ... without the script." The show is set to premiere in August.
