Concerns over Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome -- commonly referred to as SARS -- have forced Mariah Carey to postpone her June 11 Singapore concert, its promoters have announced.

The decision puts Carey in the same company of music stars who have curtailed concert plans due to the deadly virus. Touring dates for the Rolling Stones, Carlos Santana, Lisa Marie Presley, Moby and veteran balladeer Andy Williams have all been affected.

Carey expects to announce a new concert tour on Monday, reports Reuters.

Besides Asia, which is in the midst of a SARS outbreak, promoters fear that some shows in Toronto could also be canceled if the mystery virus persists.

Even before this week's travelers' warning from the World Health Organization to avoid Beijing and Toronto as an attempted means to curb the spread of SARS, Presley had canceled an April 10 promotional visit to the Canadian city over fears of the disease.

SARS, which originated in China, has so far killed at least 264 people worldwide and infected at least 4,600. Its largest outbreak outside of Asia has been in Toronto, where 16 people have died.

As a result, the Stones were forced to scrap their historic early April debut in China, saying that they eventually plan to reschedule the show. Santana's Asian tour also was canceled but has already been rescheduled for November.

As for Toronto, Elton John and Billy Joel's joint concert, scheduled for next Monday at the Air Canada Center, is -- so far -- still a go, says Riley O'Connor, senior vice president for House of Blues Concerts Canada.

But he reportedly is keeping the two stars up to date with SARS reports from Health Canada, the Toronto Board of Health and the Centers for Disease Control.
