'JAG' Star Goddard Found Dead at Home
Australian actor Trevor Goddard, 37, who played Lt. Cmdr. Mic Brumby on the popular CBS series "JAG," was found dead at his North Hollywood home on Sunday after a suspected drug overdose, reports Reuters.
Los Angeles County coroner's office spokesman Craig Harvey says Goddard's live-in girlfriend discovered the actor's body on a bed at about noon on Sunday. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.
A initial investigation indicated that Goddard, a former professional boxer in his native Australia, may have taken his own life by overdosing on "illicit, illegal" drugs, Harvey said. Those drugs have yet to be identified.
Investigators did not characterize the written messages Goddard left behind as suicide notes, said Harvey, adding, "There was nothing in the notes indicating that he meant to take his life. ... The notes were addressed to a friend."
Investigators believe Goddard died sometime after 9 p.m. on Saturday following a phone conversation with a friend, Reuters reports.
Besides his "JAG" role, Goddard also played tough-guy Kano in "Mortal Kombat" and will be seen this summer in "Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl" with Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom.
