Angelina Jolie Airs Colorful Past on TV
Angelina Jolie candidly discusses what went wrong in her brief marriage to Billy Bob Thornton -- as well as her history of self-mutilation and bisexuality -- in an interview with Barbara Walters due to air on ABC's "20/20" Friday, reports Reuters.
"I thought he was amazing," Jolie, 28, says of initially meeting Thornton, 47, whom she divorced in May. "And now I just feel like I don't know him."
Since their breakup after two years together (the marriage reportedly collapsed shortly after she adopted a Cambodian-born baby boy), "We're not friends. ... We became very different people, and I wouldn't know what to talk to him about," says Jolie, adding that the "Billy Bob" tattoo that had been on her arm has been removed.
Nor is Jolie husband hunting: "I think I'll never get married again," she says, adding that "I don't want to have a temporary father for my son." And she remains estranged from her father, Oscar-winning actor Jon Voight ("Coming Home"), 65, despite his pleas for a rapprochement.
When the two saw each other while working together on "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider," "It was a hello and goodbye," she says.
Also in the interview, says Reuters, Jolie describes herself as a "very sexual person" and confirms a past affair with a woman, admitting she was "surprised when I suddenly found myself having these feelings I always had for men, but for a woman, and wanting to kiss her and wanting to touch her."
Another confession: her teenage penchant for cutting herself, once during a sexual encounter.
"I got knives out and had a night where we attacked each other ... it felt so primitive and it felt so honest ... and then I had to deal with, you know, not telling my mother, hiding things, wearing gauze bandages to high school," she says, adding that she no longer engages in such activities now that she's a mother herself.
