England's Hottest New Act: The Osmonds

Forget Charlie's Angels or even the student body at Hogwarts. The biggest sensations in England this week are ... the Osmonds.

The all-American family from the '70s is back in the spotlight after its "Ultimate Collection" eased into the top spot on the British pop sales charts, reports the BBC.

Furthermore, when the family's lead singer, Merrill Osmond, 50, arrived in London last week to promote the CD, he was ambushed by 60 screaming women at the airport who reputedly followed him to his hotel and shadowed him for his entire stay.

"We're talking hardcore fans," a band spokeswoman tells the BBC. "Their following is still huge."

So popular has the "The Ultimate Collection" proved that the original Osmond brothers -- Alan, Wayne, Merrill, Jay and Donny, who had disbanded in the '80s -- are planning a British reunion show next year, possibly with the Jackson Five, including Michael, says the report.

"England has always held The Osmonds quite fondly in their hearts," the spokeswoman said. "For them, this has always been their biggest country."

Since the brothers went their separate ways two decades ago, Donny, 45 (sometimes with sister Marie, 43), has had the most professional success as a solo artist, while, Jay, Merrill and Wayne have carried on as the Osmond Brothers.

Since 1992, they have performed at the Osmond Family Theater in Branson, Mo.
