'Love Rat' Declares Diana Good in Bed
On a British TV documentary set to air July 24, Hewitt, 45, boasts that Diana was good in bed and permits excerpts from her private letters to be read. As a result, Hewitt is facing a fresh barrage of British tabloid headlines denouncing him.
As described by Reuters, the program, "James Hewitt: Confessions of a Cad," features the once-handsome, ex-army major of the Gulf War now looking paunchy as he listens to his lawyer, Michael Coleman, read extracts of the messages. (Hewitt has reportedly offered Diana's letters for sale, for a price of $16 million.)
In one, Diana reportedly writes: "Boy, oh boy, does the Earth shake when I get a letter from my desert friend, screams of delight, tears, you name it. Demented female on the loose, that's for sure."
In another, she tells Hewitt: "So, there are 30,000 ladies in the gulf. That should keep you busy, my friend. Variety is the essence, I'm told."
Hewitt, who at one point in the show appears in a bubble bath, also speaks crudely of Diana and of his success with other women. He additionally suggests that Prince Charles should have been grateful that his wife was cheating on him with Hewitt, as Charles was carrying on at the same time with Camilla Parker-Bowles.
"I never wanted to be a cad," Hewitt says in the documentary (for which U.S. TV rights have yet to be secured). "But I guess I am, so if you're handed a bunch of lemons, make some lemon juice."
