Republican George Voinovich currently holds the seat. Polls reportedly do not favor Springer, who initially planned to announce his intentions last Friday.

FILMED: Hong Kong-born action star Jackie Chan, 49, is starring in a TV commercial to be broadcast around the world in a bid to revive tourism in his hometown after the SARS outbreak, reports AP. No stunts will be performed in the spot, says the city's Tourism Board. He will simply greet potential visitors in several languages, and the ad will be broadcast in 30 cities around the world, according to board spokesman Simon Clennell.

FILED: Troubled boxing champ Mike Tyson, 37, once estimated to be worth at least $300 million, has filed for bankruptcy in an attempt to bring some order to his finances, his lawyer tells Reuters. Iron Mike, currently facing assault and disorderly conduct charges stemming from a scuffle in a Brooklyn hotel in June, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Manhattan on Friday, according to his attorney, Debra Grassgreen.
