Jessica Lynch Nears Movie Deal with NBC
Reps for the 20-year-old Lynch -- a supply clerk in the 507th Ordnance Maintenance Co. in Iraq -- are still in discussions with the network regarding payment, The Times reports. But her participation would change the perspective of the film from that of Mohammed Odeh Al-Rehaief, the Iraqi lawyer who alerted U.S. military officials to Lynch's whereabouts, to Lynch herself.
Lynch, whose capture in Iraq and rescue by American special operatives was the subject of conflicting reports during the war in Iraq, has never fully told the story of the ordeal.
Although a spokesperson for Lynch, Randy Coleman, told the Times that the Lynch family "has not agreed at this time to participate in an NBC movie," a television executive told The Times on Wednesday that an agreement is expected to be announced today.
NBC's previously unauthorized film, titled "Saving Private Lynch," is scheduled to begin shooting in the next two weeks and air during the all-important November sweeps period. It was announced this week that Canadian actress Laura Regan will play Lynch.
