Madonna Unveils Children's Book Series

The London-based mother of two will be in Paris to unveil the book, the first of a planned series of five, each illustrated by a famous artist, according to spokesperson for her French publisher, Gallimard.
Details about the plot of the first book remain a tightly guarded secret, but the tale is rumored to portray elements of kabbalah, a mystic derivative of Judaism that counts Madonna among its followers, Reuters reports. The publishers are hoping that Madonna's books will appeal to adults as well as children, much like the "Harry Potter" series written by British author J.K. Rowling.
Although "The English Roses" is the first book Madonna has penned, it's not her first foray into publishing. In 1992, she caused a sensation with her foil-wrapped coffee-table book "Sex," which featured X-rated photographs of the pop star.
Since the births of her children, Lourdes, 6, and Rocco, 2, and her marriage to British film director Guy Ritchie, Madonna has toned down the risque behavior -- and is currently the poster girl for the Gap's new ad campaign.
