Emmy Awards organizers are planning to pack in the yuks for their 55th annual ceremony on Sept. 21, as former hosts Conan O'Brien, Ellen DeGeneres and Garry Shandling will lead an all-star roster of comedians sharing hosting duties for TV's biggest night.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, FOX (which is airing the ceremony) and the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences have already lined up "Everybody Loves Raymond" costar Brad Garrett, "Saturday Night Live"'s Darrell Hammond, Wanda Sykes of FOX's "Wanda at Large," George Lopez, Martin Short and "The Daily Show" host Jon Stewart for the gig, to be held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

Other names are expected to join that list.

"We wanted to try something different this year with the Emmys," executive producer Don Mischer tells the Reporter. "Instead of one comedic point of view running through the show, there will be many."

Each comedian, he explained, will open a different segment of the ceremony.

"We've searched high and low to find the funniest people in California who are not running for governor," adds Academy chairman Bryce Zabel, going for a few chuckles himself. "This all-star comedy team promises to make America laugh without asking for a campaign contribution."
