The California recall election is back on as planned, with a federal court reinstating the Oct. 7 gubernatorial election. But all this political fever is getting to Kelsey Grammer.

The "Frasier" star, 48, told the FOX News Channel on Monday that he might one day follow in Arnold Schwarzenegger's footsteps and run for office. On the "Hannity & Colmes" program, hosted by Sean Hannity and Alan Colmes, Grammer said that he would consider running for the U.S. Senate seat from California once he's finished with acting, the Associated Press reports.

"I would probably run as a Republican," he added, according to The Washington Post. The New York Post also quotes him as calling himself "a centrist, but I basically believe in trying to preserve as much opportunity for the individual, as long as the individual chooses to work as hard as he can."

Grammer's 11th and (it has been announced) final season of "Frasier" premiered on NBC Tuesday -- though networks and stars have been known to reverse decisions, just like the California courts.

Also on Tuesday, an 11-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals reinstated California's Oct. 7 election date, which a three-judge panel of the same circuit had previously postponed.

The American Civil Liberties Union said on the heels of the Circuit Court's ruling that it will not appeal the unanimous reversal of the lower court's decision.
