Halle Berry: From Benet to Bizkit?
If you believe Fred Durst, the way to Halle Berry's heart is through her iPod.
The Limp Bizkit front man is going public with his crush on the "Monster's Ball" Oscar winner, who just last week announced her split from R&B singer husband Eric Benet. Durst tells GQ magazine he had a thing for the actress even before they met, and he programmed an Apple iPod and gave it to her (while she was still with Benet).
The list of love songs to "impress" her, he said, included Cyndi Lauper's "True Colors" and Al B. Sure's "Night and Day."
"You just never know," Durst tells GQ about love's winding road.
Berry met Durst while making a video for a song that appears on the soundtrack to her upcoming movie, "Gothika," which also stars Robert Downey Jr. and Penelope Cruz and opens Nov. 21.
No word on whether Berry has the same feelings for Durst, but the pair has been the subject of tabloid speculation ever since the video shoot.
Just last week, the actress announced her separation from Benet after less than three years of marriage. "Eric and I have had marital problems for some time now and have tried to work things out together," she said in her statement released Oct. 1.
"However, at this point, I feel we need time apart to reevaluate our union. We ask that you respect our privacy as we are going through this emotional time," she added, giving no hint that there might be someone new in her life.
Berry, 37, was previously married to pro ballplayer David Justice, but the relationship ended in 1996. The instability in her relationship with Benet, also 37, has been well-documented, and at one point her husband was reportedly treated for a sex addiction.
Meanwhile, this isn't the first time Durst has worn his heart on his sleeve. Earlier this year he declared his undying love for Britney Spears, though the relationship appeared to be highly one-sided. "Fred is doing a lot more talking than he ever did kissing," a rep for the 21-year-old pop princess told PEOPLE for its March 5 issue.
After meeting Spears during a recording-studio collaboration, Durst proclaimed his affections for her on his band's Web site. Days later, she denied the romance on MTV's "Total Request Live," telling host Carson Daly, "He's not my type."
