Woody Allen: From Auteur to Author

Allen, who has been linked with actresses Louise Lasser, Diane Keaton and Mia Farrow, and is now married to Farrow's adoptive daughter, Soon-Yi, has promised a sensational tell-all for the right price, the paper notes.
No official word regarding the bidding. But the Post reports Allen turned down a $1.6 million offer for U.S. rights, and bidding jumped to the $2 million level. Allen also purportedly sold the British rights to Harper Collins U.K. for $1.25 million and has already sold Italian rights for $300,000.
The director has parlayed his own angst-filled persona into a series of popular films -- including classics like "Annie Hall" and "Manhattan" as well as more recent films like "Mighty Aphrodite" -- but remains famously press shy. His contentious 1992 split with longtime partner Farrow -- which erupted after she discovered his affair with Soon-Yi -- provoked tabloid headlines around the world.
The autobiography hasn't yet been written, but Allen's agent is at the Frankfurt Book Fair, the publishing industry's biggest marketplace, shopping a 12-page proposal; Allen has pledged to be "extremely candid," the paper reports.
