Arriving by herself at this week's New York premiere of her new movie "Beyond Borders," Angelina Jolie seemed to revel in the attention surrounding her recent United Nations humanitarian work that was inspired, in part, by the movie, reports PEOPLE.

UN Secretary General Kofi Annan introduced Jolie at the screening, thanking her "for going beyond the movie to the real story."

In the film, Jolie, 28, plays an American expatriate in London who abandons her comfortable existence to become an international aid worker, traveling to trouble spots on behalf of the United Nations. One of these spots is Cambodia.

"I love a lot of countries," Jolie told PEOPLE. "But that one specifically I love. I had read a lot about (dictatorial leader) Pol Pot and everything the Cambodian people survived. So when I first went to that country I was expecting to meet people who were aware of how much they suffered.

"Instead I found spirited, warm, open and generous people," she added. "They are remarkable people. They survived, kept their language. They have kind of taken their country back which is amazing. They are amazing. So I wanted to work inside that country to make it better."

She also adopted her son, whom she named Maddox, from that country. "He's great, he's 2 years, 3 months right now," she gushed.

As for having another child: "Yes, I am thinking about when Mad starts school. I am just thinking about balance. He is a toddler now so I'll have to see what he is comfortable with."
